Joel worked on plans for months and months to check off a “bucket list” item of doing Deep Sea fishing off the Oregon coast with some coworkers. Those plans came together on Friday, June 8, in a Halibut fishing trip that was scheduled to go 30 miles offshore. Here’s how the trip unfolded:

Oh, bummer, halibut would have been nice. It’s going for about $27 a pound in Newport. But, I hope you enjoy the fish you caught. We were on the coast that same day, in Yachats and then in Newport. We also got wet on the beach. We were watching a fishing boat pitching and rolling in the waves about 8-10 miles out as well, but it was bigger than the one you were on.
